Neck, Shoulder, and Arm Pain…

Neck pain is extremely common. People spend a lot of time with their head forward… reading, using their mobile phone, or slouched in front of a computer. When you add stress into the equation, it is no wonder that chiropractors end up with a lot of neck and shoulder pain cases in their office. If the problem is short term, it can resolve itself with some stretching or rest, but chronic or recurrent neck pain is an indication that there is an underlying problem. Many people with tightness and/or soreness at the base of the neck put it down to tension or work, but if it keeps returning, including after massage, often there an underlying problem.

Neck pain can come from muscle spasm, inflammation, or nerve irritation, but what causes these? The answer to this, particularly in long-lasting cases, is often ‘vertebral subluxtion’—vertebrae jammed in a position that causes irritation. Click here to see the most common causes of vertebral subluxation. If left unaddressed, symptoms can include arm pain or numbness/pins and needles in the fingers.

Chiropractic aims at correcting the underlying issue. Using gentle, specific manipulation of the spine, chiropractors loosen vertebrae that are stuck in positions that cause irritation. The english-speaking chiropractor in Barcelona, Stefan Becker, specialises in techniques that are particularly gentle.

Symptoms in and around the shoulder socket itself may involve rotator cuff problems. A thorough examination can assess where the underlying issue is.
